Beast Wars: Transformers
The game allows the player to play as either the Maximals or the Predacons in a series of missions to sabotage the other side's attempts at gaining a tactical advantage in the Beast Wars. There are six playable characters on each side, one unlockable by finding a stasis pod in a specific level and the other only accessible in Rescue missions, each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses, and they all have both a health meter and an Energon tolerance meter. Maybe not as irredeemably awful as I've heard, but by no means is it a good game. Like in the show beast mode is used to avoid energon overload, but it leaves you completely vulnerable to enemy fire and the transformation sequences take too long. The "rescue missions" sound like a neat idea, until you realize that means no checkpoints. Honestly there's nothing here even for fans of the show, as the story is paper-thin and the characters have none of the personalities of their TV counterparts.
