What now looks like manipulating a rectangular polygon at 100 simulated miles per hour with a gum-coated, sticky plastic steering wheel was, for its time, a fairly revolutionary experience in what frame rates could contribute to gameplay immersion. So the arcade version is the only version worth a look back - grown men would place their beers down for hours on end, while kids watched; kids who could barely reach the pedals then took a turn, while the adults sipped their beer.
