In the early days of home consoles, there were often these "educational" games that existed more for marketing and public relations reasons than anything. Does using DK Junior as a kind-of-sort-of workable if weird interface for straight-up dry math drills make them any more or less appealing? Hard to say. But it lets you tell skeptical parents you've got educational content in the launch lineup.
