It's obvious that they put a ton of effort into this one. I love the Dragon Age series, so I really wanted to like this game. However, it fails on many fronts. The writing pales in comparison to the earlier games, and the heavy-handed identity politics felt clumsy. There's little player freedom to speak of, and the combat feels more repetitive than strategic. I still played through it and it still somewhat scratched the Dragon Age Origins itch. Hope they can do better on the next one!

This came free with my PS5 and I played like 15 minutes just to make sure.

A few things are true at once. It's a victim of culture war nonsense so some people's opinions are tainted. I'm not a Dragon Age fan but even I can tell that this is not a good DRAGON AGE game. But it's also not a bad video game, generally. When you're running around, exploring, hacking things, the game is fun. The story's fine. If you divorce it from Bioware's legacy, it's enjoyable, but it is a notable few steps down from their best work (but up from something like Anthem). I like it.

Technically an impressive release. If you value convenience over complexity and don't mind being held by the hand in every regard possible, Disney Age: Marveilguard could be for you. Bioware still has lots of talent, just not in the writing department. The story is beyond dull, and pervaded by this baseline non-logic that also has items' rarity increase by finding more of the same. The DEI thing, well...how can a computer game character even be non-binary?
