Make the AI enemies go in circles the opposite direction of you and it's amazing.

The regular strolls through haunted house triggers notwithstanding, this is mostly a military corridor-shooter at heart. But it's a very well-executed one, what with the way things handle, and all the smoke, and the AI that actually tries to keep moving, keep their distance, and flank. And of course, there's the fancy slo-mo effect for when you want things cinematically flashy and a bit on the easy side.

An old school FPS. It has uncomplicated dynamics. The game usually takes place in closed and small spaces, but the conflicts are never boring. Those who like a dark, stuffy, gloomy atmosphere may enjoy it. Ai was impressive compared to other genre games when the it was first released.

This is my favourite spooky game. I don't like feeling underpowered in horror games, and you don't here, being able to slow down time. It has satisfying shooting mechanics. And yet it still manages to be psychologically terrifying, actually giving me nightmares. I would play it for half an hour, quit, but then I just had to dive back in. By the end you've figured out its tricks but it's already at the end so it doesn't matter. Series declines after this unfortunately.
