Homeworld is a real-time strategy video game. Set in space, the science fiction game follows the Kushan exiles of the planet Kharak after their home planet is destroyed. In each of the game's levels, the player gathers resources, builds a fleet, and uses it to destroy enemy ships and accomplish mission objectives. The player's fleet carries over between levels, and can travel in a fully three-dimensional space within each level rather than being limited to a two-dimensional plane.

Homeworld is among one of the most brilliant sci-fi's in gaming, while also being one of the most satisfying strategy games to play. Complimented by a fantastic presentation, the game constantly forces you to think ahead with every action you take, often making you consider both the long-term and short-term effects of your tactics, something RTS games rarely do. The sci-fi storytelling is brilliant, exuding hard sci-fi themes while also asserting emotional resonance from those elements.
