Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble

2000
Action
Puzzle
Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble uses a series of accelerometers to control Kirby. The goal of the game is to guide Kirby to the level's goal within the allotted time by physically tilting the Game Boy in the direction in which the player wishes to move him. The game registers a "pop" action when the player quickly jerks the Game Boy in the vertical direction; doing so will jerk Kirby into the air. The game revolves around the collection of the numerous stars strewn about the levels. (wikipedia.org)

Lives off of its gimmick, for better or worse. Much of the game is learning how to bypass obstacles through the control scheme which can be hit or miss depending on the level design. Some levels utilize the control scheme brilliantly, but others make it the most obnoxious thing imaginable. Overall it's a decent use of the gimmick but it's not intricate or intriguing enough for me to give it a high rating.

conceptually interesting, but mostly tedious
