A major, major step down from Secret of Mana.

I dig the atmosphere and the general setting of the game, (much more than Secret of Mana) but otherwise, it was pretty crappy. For one, the hit detection is awful - you'll often outright miss the enemy and there's little clarity to their hurtbox. I dig the alchemy system, but getting materials is cumbersome and more time consuming than necessary. The world and plot, despite being neat on the surface, also lacks any sense of intrigue or world building. The maze-like dungeons sucked too.
