The story follows Sonic the Hedgehog as he attempts to save Little Planet from Doctor Robotnik, while making rounds with his robotic doppelgänger Metal Sonic, who has kidnapped Amy Rose. While gameplay is similar to previous games in the series, Sonic CD is distinguished by its time travel mechanic. By traveling through time, players can access different versions of stages featuring alternate layouts, music, and graphics. (wikipedia.org)

This is probably the most fun and the weirdest of the 2D Sonic games. Almost all of the maps are remakes from the first game with new gimmicks that make them really unique. There is also time travel that lets you unlock the true ending if you can save the future in every level. There are also two soundtracks to the game, so you can play twice. So there is lots of replay value here. The only downside on this game is that the bosses are really easy, but the Metal Sonic race makes up for it.

one of the best Sonic games, which is a lot like being the smartest kid in remedial math.
