An old school-style pleasure dressed up a little with a slicker, faster combat system. Cheesy story and script and voice acting but a lovely lush fairy tale presentation in visuals, design and music and fighting that is fun enough that I was still enjoying it hundreds of battles in. Played through all three main stories and all three final bosses, new game plus, secret super dungeon/super boss, etc., got pretty into it. Fun stuff.

Nowadays it takes a little more to stand out in the ARPG genre and ToM is a good attempt but not great. Camera sucks, music is fine, voice acting is awful, button layout is a little weird, but the action in general is entertaining and there's enough depth to level progression to be interesting. But the ring system is outdated; single-player was fine but I imagine playing with someone else and having it pause would be annoying as it was when I replayed SoM years ago. Picking your party is good.
