Ultima II: The Revenge of the Enchantress

1982

Role-Playing

The gameplay is very similar to the previous game in the series, Ultima. The scope of the game is bigger, in that there are several more places to explore, even though some of them (like most of the solar system planets and the dungeons and towers) are optional and not required to complete the game. Long before Ultima was about fretting over the meaning of virtue, you were hopping about multiple time periods, each with their own maps and assortments of enemies. (This would be yet another concept picked up on by countless JRPGs.) That's right: this is the Ultima where you steal a rocket from a Soviet test facility.
