Builds upon the last game in interesting ways - giving Kamurocho more dimensions, interesting nuances with the new playable characters, and cool new fighting styles. While I don't think these fighting styles feel as "complete" as they do as Kazuma's was in 3, they all feel like a refreshing take on the main combat which is still satisfying. With the new cast, the subplots are also a breath of fresh air. The main plot has interesting elements, but the conclusion and certain TWEESTS bring it down.

The story is all random plot twists and forced drama that couldn't be more conspicuous and we're not talking about 2-3x what you would even expect from a yakuza game, but constantly. It also constantly breaks with its own continuity (Feels like an 80s morning soap opera) The combat is terrible, you often hit nothing and constantly lose control of your character through knockouts etc. Dodging or special move timings are super low or bugged I don't know, polish is simply missing here. A 7 (while high for me) is probably selling it short, considering the amount of content I ultimately decided to leave on the table. Plays much better than 3, effectively mixes up the tried-and-true formula, expands the same ol' in interesting ways, and is overall a great entry in a great series. But at this point, after five lengthy stays in Kamurocho and countless strategy-free random encounters, I mostly just care about seeing the story through to the end.
