Assassin's Creed III

The tutorial is longer than most good games.

You'd think this is such a great point in history. The stories you can tell! So why does it fail so miserably? The story they concoct just doesn't grip anyone. I got bored halfway through and I know I was not the only one.

It's just not a good game. Too many ideas, most of which are half-baked to make it feel like a step forward. A buggy mess with many extremely annoying mechanics and objectives.

Assassin’s Creed III simulates the psychosis of the colonized. Ratonhnhaké:ton dons the "white mask" of Connor, trading identity for survival. His violence is a visceral release of muscular tension, yet tragic: to fight tyranny, he aids the Patriots—architects of his erasure. The game’s jaggedness mirrors colonial restriction. fantastic game. really badass fighting mechanics.

AC 2 was mainly made by French Canadians. After it was a hit, the company forcefully ejected the main game designer and announced the next game would be about the US War of Independence. I laughed for five minutes when I read that. After climbing around big cities in Renaissance Italy, did they really think it would be funner to jump around colonial villages?

Good visuals for its time and the antagonist were the only good sides of this game.

Score could have been higher if the game wasn't full of time-consuming things like the encyclopedia of the common man. Of course, it's optional but I still lost a good 2 to 3h trying to complete it.
