It's fun and quick and can be learned in a few minutes. It's also cheap. We just bought a nice-looking set for $6. Not the deepest or most engaging game, but a nice way to pass a bit of time while talking.

Passable. Also, interestingly enough, not Chinese. And the Japanese call it Diamond Game because...ah...well let's just leave the Chinese/Japanese relations for another time.
