Depression Quest

I played this before the Zoe Quinn crap exploded and even then I thought it was trash. This can barely even be called a "game" because even other visual novels have more player agency than this crap. On top of being badly written (look at all of those grammar errors!), the game has an incredibly narrow idea of what depression is, whilst not saying anything meaningful about it. It seems to think all depressed people are always constantly unhappy, which is a gross misunderstanding of its symptoms.

You guys remember Hypercard? This is like a Hypercard stack from HR or maybe your high school, designed to soak you in propaganda under the guise of a game, but really it just was not that much fun. Nor was it really that exciting. Like all things symbolistic, you do it for the sake of feeling good about yourself, but you will never get those hours back.

Wonderfully clever combo of mechanic and subject, just not a fan of the interactive fiction
