I bought a new computer to play this game when it first released and on the auction house I flipped enough magical pants to pay for my computer. It's okay. Putting new characters behind 20 dollar DLC, you can suck my butt Blizzard.

Upon release there was a lot of elements seriously lacking but it did grow into its own, especially with Reaper of Souls. They'll never be able to completely fix the game without a major overhaul on the foundation, but they did what they could and I ended up spending a lot of hours playing it. Nice ARPG, lots of loot, cool classes/abilities, excellent music and visuals. Just, that level progression, ugh.

Way too much focus on the end-game.

My first Diablo experience, and honestly I can't see the what the fuss about. Maybe it's much better as a co-op experience, but as a single-player experience it was a repetitive XP-grinder strung together by the most barebone of stories. The world-building was interesting though,

Oddly enough, I liked this more than the other hack-n-slash games I've played. Still very shallow though. The writing is so bad it's almost good.

This went from being one of my most-hyped ARPGs, to being so completely meh, to being amazing, to once again being completely bland and stale, over the course of 4 years. Granted: concurrent/progressive game design is anything but easy, but Blizzard pull this off consistently with Hearthstone/WoW/Overwatch. Grim Dawn and Path of Exile are two other ARPGs that manage it too. Overall an amazing first playthrough, but running rifts to make your numbers go higher can only entertain for so long.

Not quite Diablo 2 but still an enjoyable action rpg.

A rough start with the random drops making it so you had to be lucky as hell to get good stuff you could actually use which felt like a way to pimp the auction house. They did course correction though and the game is way better now. The necromancer was a nice addition even if I wish it would have been introduced with another level.
