We know you think this one character is super interesting, that's why we showed him to you three times and then replaced him with a villain who's name and face are literally impossible to remember.

The one that set the formula for this series (and probably a few others) going forward, taking the base raids from the 2nd, and going all-in on skill trees, and a big fancy main quest, and whatnot. I see what they were attempting with the plot, though the many tonal and plotting issues with this bro-step into the heart of darkness get a bit hard to ignore (especially on the rather superfluous second island). But the raids are good, and it's fun poking around the pretty map for collectables.

Like others have said, I thought that past the halfway point the story was notably weaker. But ultimately exploring the islands and doing the quests and outposts and the basic shooting mechanics of it were a good deal of fun that kept me hooked for a couple of weeks.

I don't know if I've ever been so split on a game before. Everything except the main story is damn-near perfect. The main story is a hellacious exercise in creating as much disconnect between the player and player-character as possible. It also badly wastes its very interesting and well-acted villain in the worst way possible. All that said, this is still very worth playing because the open world is so damn much fun to explore and there is a lot do to.

While I get bored a lot easier with Far Cry games now, I still remember how I felt when I played this. Oh cool a FPS open-world game where I can burn grass. I'm not going to mark this down because nowadays I'm a little tired of open-world games and the Ubisoft formula (make the same game). This was great.

Far Cry 3 is one of the best FPS games of all time. For the same central reason as games like Bioshock. It was made with single player in mind before including the obligatory multiplayer. The story is also tight and includes a cray fun villain to boot.

Rarely will I ever give a generic Ubisoft game such a high score, but this game has some interesting moments and a really cool and well acted villain that is in turn completely hamstrung by a lackluster finale. It also runs like ass on PS3. Maybe my score will change when I someday play it again on PC.

A phenomenal game, both mechanically and from a story perspective, with two defining flaws; the ending is stupid, and the multiplayer should have been akin to Far Cry 4 (literally just co-op in the story).

The story is problematic AT BEST but I loved this so much. Full-on addiction.

Excellent visuals and gameplay, complete with unlikable characters and a nonsensical story. The open-ended nature of Far Cry 3 lends itself to a lot of fun, and was good enough to spawn a long series of games.
