the first Fire Emblem game for most people outside of Japan, and a great introduction. superb character design and great worldbuilding, with lots of fun secrets to discover. it's a shame the series strayed so far from this.

One of the best handheld games out there. While the first 10 chapters are a bit patronizing, the game has a lot of well-balanced units and memorable map design. The plot is also decent, if perhaps very basic. Some things in this game are obnoxiously archaic, however. The support system is the dumbest shit in the world and thieves get the shit end of the stick when it comes to promotions. Also odd that Nintendo would release this game but not Binding Blade to the west, despite Roy's popularity.
