Gears 5

They're all the same and they're all fine.

I gave respect to the first one because at the time cover shooters weren't everywhere, but every time I try to play a Gears game now I can't get over how stiff they feel. And that ruins it completely for me because I don't care about anything else. Mind you, I never beat them because I can't stand them, so maybe the story ends up being good. Doesn't matter, can't get past the gameplay.

Some issues with the multiplayer servers and the class balance in Horde aside, this is still a great package. The highlight for me, campaign Act 2. The Matriarch was the best Gears boss ever.

Here's the thing: I don't remember having any issues with the gameplay itself but I also don't remember much of the game at all. I finished the campaign and I could not tell you what it was about or anything remotely interesting that happens during it. The energy is just gone.

A pretty big disappointment. Unlocks in multiplayer is a grind and the campaign really feels like filler in the final Act. Kind of killed Gears for me in the same way that The Last Jedi killed Star Wars for me (though for very different reasons, the campaign/story isn't as terrible in Gears 5 as it is in TLJ).
