God of War: Ascension, the seventh instalment in the God of War series, acts as a prequel to the preceding games. The narrative revolves around Kratos, the protagonist from earlier instalments, who was once a loyal servant of the God of War, Ares. Tricked by Ares into unknowingly murdering his own family, Kratos breaks the blood oath binding him to Ares and abandons his former master. Subsequently, Kratos finds himself imprisoned and must navigate a path to freedom, severing the bond between him and Ares.

This was a good game. Again it gets this score because lack of a radar meter and really annoying puzzles.

Something about this game's presentation makes Kratos feel much more depowered compared to the rest of the series which removes a huge part of the original power fantasy appeal. Kratos is less of an avatar of edgy teen angst which I actually liked about the character. I can't give a shit about a less dumb kratos

I wouldn't call it a bad game, but it's also not too memorable. I played this because it was first chronologically. Considering it was a prequel, I would have expected it to go more in depth about Kratos's history, but it just sort of throws you into the middle of a story already happening. The Trials of Archimedes were terrible, and controls had some issues. Otherwise, it was decent.
