Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

If there'd been Metroid Prime games every 2-3 years since 2007 and this was like Metroid Prime 11 or whatever I'd be like "yeah that seems about right" but after an 18 year wait this is a bit shocking. I didn't hate it – green score still – but mixed with some peak boss fights, fun "dungeon" design (more like Zelda than Metroid tbh), cool secrets there's so many AVGN "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!!" bits: the desert, the green crystal hunt, the generic space marine cutscenes, the ending, etc.

See my full review where I go into detail, but basically, I think there are flaws in this game (open world), but they were never enough in my experience to make me stop loving this game. The story's fine, though Sylux could have used some work. The companions are completely fine... good, even. And the game looks, plays, feels and sounds beautiful. I also don't mind how linear it was. - Full Review
