Mount & Blade: Warband

Silly looking graphics but it is still a hoot to run around trying to figure out what the hell you are doing.

A stellar game that's really rough around the edges. Doing the simplest shit takes fucking forever and is boring, the lord affinity system is terribly designed, and the game generally feels really clunky. But underneath all of that is some really deep gameplay, an interesting world and a fuck ton of really good mods that improve the game. I've spent hundreds of hours on this game and the gameplay still feels enjoyable, especially after installing a new mod that adds new mechanics and content.

Shout-outs to Rolf, son of Rolf, of the most ancient and puissant House of Rolf.

The quests are repetitive and its boring and bullshit trying to recruit enough soldiers to form a decent sized army. There's also no control of your men in battle. If you die as well the game turns bullshit too with you constantly getting re-killed by marauding bandits, and you once again have to build up your army from scratch, which takes forever. But the sense of progress is addictive.
