Turning back towards the winning formula of Pool of Radiance, PoD offers a more open world than the previous two games. It also finally introduces a bottomless item stash. The level design is the best in the series, with an adventure inside a giant beating heart as a particular standout. The main reason why I'm rating this game lower than PoR is the glut of random encounters in some of the main quest areas; having a hostile encounter every three steps is just too much.
