The combat is a nice twist on the JRPG formula. The time travel mechanic is an interesting idea though maybe it just isn't what I was in the mood for. But the idea of branching paths that also flesh out the story is intriguing in theory. My main issue with this game--and this ties into my previous sentence--is that this game never shuts up. I like RPGs. I like dialogue, story, etc, but there's a bad habit in some JRPGs where they're obnoxiously talkative. This is one of those.

an interesting and enjoyable jrpg from atlus that is easily one of their best, primarily because it's so different from their usual affair, being largely unafflicted by modern anime horseshit. makes decent use of its time travel gimmick, though storylines never really branch properly, it being more a gameplay mechanic. is interesting in being perhaps the most asymmetric game i've ever played: the player and the opponent have entirely different battle mechanics. not sure if i like that.
