Beautiful visuals/art style. Fun story. What I like most about this is how it's just constantly throwing stuff at you, whether it's intense battles or the steady progression in your arsenal. Feels chaotic at times in a good way. Just had a lot of fun with this.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is more tech demo than video game. The visuals are impressive at any setting, the scene transitions are truly wowing, and the different performance modes all nailed their individual goals; the next console generation is already off to the best start since the PS2/Xbox/GC era. However, someone had to make a game out of this and it's only okay. The visuals are often distracting, the story is another childish adventure, and the gameplay is more of the same.

Modern Ratchet and Clank is a shell of its former self. While the gameplay and graphics have continued to improve, the story and characters have succumbed to the whedonesque Marvel school of facetiousness. The PC version is marred by performance issues that don't reveal themselves until one third through. Gluttonous vram-consumption causes FPS-drops and stuttering when firing weapons, and the game's final mission is an uncomfortable experience for the same reasons.

i'm way past the target audience and bought it due to a lack of competition on the next gen exclusives front...but! fuck me, this is pretty much the perfect 3rd person shooter/platformer. great, steadily evolving gameplay that hardly feels repetitve or boring, superb graphics and sound, clever and varied world-design...and the weapons are crazy fun, packing absurd amounts of satisfactory punch, especially when upgraded or omega'd. definitely the first time i got really excited for "next gen".

Great game! The first game to make it feel like it was really making use of the PS5, even though surely it was barely using the hardware. Great animation and graphics, and gameplay was insane, with so many enemies on screen at once, and hectic dimension-hopping sections throughout. Just a ton of fun.
