Berseria has a surprisingly good plot despite its cheesy anime silliness and while it's a bit slow at first in terms of gameplay the combat is pretty satisfying and challenging on higher difficulties. My perception of this game might be hindered a bit by how little of the Tales series I've played, but aside from some annoying quality of life issues and bland monster/dungeon design, this game was pretty enjoyable. Velvet is the best girl, but Magilou packs some high quality memes

I tried for 7 hours (not long in a game like this, I guess, but it felt longer than that), but it just felt like walking anime tropes doing their things in a slightly embarrassing way. This is my first Tales game so I have no clue how this compares, but the combat felt like so repetitive and mindless.

for all the talking stuffed animals, this is much better than expected. i liked the bit where the protagonist declares "let's engulf the world in the flames of chaos!" to the sound of heroic action music. unlike those fucking megaten games which are supposed to be the most nuanced things ever, where even thinking about being "unneutral" results in being bombarded with evil music as your friends kill themselves. yes, a childish tales game is better than SMT. well, except nocturne. nocturne rules.
