Incredible production value; amazing graphics, brilliant audio design and top-notch motion capture. The atmosphere is as good as you'd expect from a spiritual successor to Dead Space. Sadly, the combat really lets this down, and I found myself primarily enjoying exploring great-looking, creepy environments, soaking in the atmosphere, hoping no enemies were around to ruin things.

Glen Schofield’s return to survival horror since Dead Space is sadly underwhelming. Atheistically and graphically, The Callisto Protocol is a treat in the world of horror, and compliments its atmosphere extremely well. However, the core game itself is painfully dull. Between story and game progression that’s cliche and reminiscent of Dead Space, boss battles are lazy and the game’s movement system punishes you during these sequences. On top of that, it’s easy to cheese this game’s short runtime.

Great graphics, atmosphere is fine, sounds are doing their job, story is not all bad. Only if the combat was better...
