It's a really solid platformer that pushes back a little but even though it looks like Ninja Gaiden it is not as hard. There's a decent level of depth to the mechanics, the fact that you can hit things and keep jumping is a cool idea, the music is great, the humour usually works. On a personal note I don't love how it turns into a Metroidvania later just because I was enjoying it as it was early in the game and the indie market is saturated with the genre. The 8/16 bit thing is also cool.

This game dances on the edge of greatness - if only the “Metroidvania” world of its second half was a little more interconnected and fleshed out, the reward for collecting the green coins less underwhelming, and the final gauntlet/boss more satisfying. But still, its “Ninja Gaiden” first half is fantastic with ultra-tight and fun controls, aerial acrobatics, epic challenging boss battles, and perfect visual and musical presentation. So not a masterpiece, but one of my top ten of 2018.

If only the second half had been cut off as a DLC. The first half is great, there are a few unbalanced parts but generally its great, what Ninja Gaiden should have been. But then that second half, fuck, all the backtracking and not knowing where the hell to go, and having to go through entire levels just to get to the part you want to go. Still the basic gameplay doesn't change so I'll still give it an 80.
