Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus

'Mechanicus' has some undeniable rough edges (the text, while mostly amusing and well-written, could have done with a couple copy-editing passes, particularly toward the end, and the difficulty is mostly trivial), but its theme, aesthetic, music and sound design rival much more expensive productions. The narrative's focus on the foibles and humanity of the all but inhuman protagonists was a great choice, and one that compensated for the uniformity of the gameplay past the first few missions.

An absolute treat! Whether or not you are a fan of the Warhammer 40.000 setting you should check out this interesting title that combines rogue-lite elements with "X-Com" style turn-based combat. The visuals are phenomenal and the soundtrack is so memorable that as I write this review I can hear "Dance of the Crypteks" in my head. Buy it and play it the next time you have the chance!

Decent strategy game that really captures the essence of the Mechanicum. A wealth of customisation options and a small amount of randomisation allow for at least a second playthrough without it being too samey.
