YIIK: A Postmodern RPG

I stopped playing it a lot sooner than I anticipated because I couldn't get over the load times. It killed any momentum or excitement that the game could possibly have, but then the battle system also gets old really fast. And this is coming from a guy who loves the games that influenced this. Cool soundtrack and it looks good, the main character is just annoying (yeah I know he gets better), and the dialogue just isn't interesting. So disappointed in this.

The writing is abhorrent, the gameplay is boring, and the art style leaves much to be desired. But in terms of game criticism, this is one of the most interesting pieces of media I have ever come across. Chauvinism, arrogance, pretentiousness, and so many more negative traits flow through the game's DNA. But does this make a bad game? To a player, unarguably yes. But to a critic? This is the most I've ever had to think about a video game.

Pretty nice aesthetically, it's painfully unfunny for a game that relies on humour and the battle system is not particularly fun.
