Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017) - Rated 15 Aug 2025

Suffers emencely from being constructed around predatory microtransactions and loot boxes, now mercifully removed from the game, but if you can ignore that it's a great Star Wars skinned multiplayer shooter, that surprisingly enough still (in 2025) has quite a few active servers.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII (2025) - Rated 24 Feb 2025

Takes some big swings, and brings new ideas to the long running series, but as it stands right now,I can't recommend buying it - on PS5 at least. It crashes constantly, the UI is unfathomably bad and considering how well-adapted Civ6 was on Console, this feels like several steps backwards. On top of that, the game itself is a bit too barebones, with the otherwise fine ages system feeling amputated and the initial leader roster lackluster. In a year or two it'll be fine, I'm sure.

Assassin's Creed Mirage (2023) - Rated 09 Feb 2024

Back to basic in most senses, which is both refreshing and somewhat underwhelming. The Bagdad setting is wonderful and the return to stealth focused gameplay much appreciated, but the story is passable at best, and the underlying game engine feels both stiff and past its prime.

A phenomenal game, that wears its inspirations proudly but in the very capable hands of Same Lake and team elevates the whole thing to art in its own right, switching effortlessly between the legitimate frighting and ridiculously funny.

Not only the best game I've played in ages, with a near perfect marriage between gameplay and story, but also one of, if not the best, use of Nordic mythology across any media, I can remember.

As a Dane I’m somewhat disappointed that the game didn’t start in Jutland with a young Eivor desperately searching for high places to climb, realizing that the tallest peak is about a hundred meters, and that is what send you on your murderous raid to England. I mean… I understand why they went with Norway (bloody mountain filled snowscape) disregarding historical accuracy, but… come on! Fine game though. A bit too RPG/stat-heavy for my taste.
