Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair (2012) - Rated 18 Mar 2026
My favorite entry in this franchise. It has my favorite cast of characters overall, but simultaneously has some of my least favorite characters. The cases and trials vary in quality, as is typical of this franchise, but the overall mystery at play is intriguing with an interesting conclusion.

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward (2012) - Rated 18 Mar 2026
The gameplay is fun. However, somehow, the twist at the end is even worse than 999's. Play the game for the escape room sequences and try not to think about the story too much, because thinking about it completely breaks it.

Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (2009) - Rated 18 Mar 2026
The puzzles are fun. The mystery is intriguing. Until the ending, which is so awful it made me regret finishing the game. Because finishing meant saving the life of a genuinely wretched character the game tries to pass off as likeable.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony (2017) - Rated 18 Mar 2026
The first trial is a kick in the teeth in the best way and a bold way to begin the game. This entry has the most complex and interesting mysteries of the franchise (except the third trial, which is just awful) that are fun to navigate and solve (mostly, that third trial is just... bad).

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc (2010) - Rated 18 Mar 2026
This game, along with the other entries in the franchise, is fun on a first run but becomes tedious on repetition. The first game is the worst in the franchise with simple gameplay and boring, easy cases that can be solved before the trial begins. There's fun to be had here but only play it once so you don't ruin it for yourself like I did.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (2025) - Rated 18 Mar 2026
A game that deserves all the accolades it's gotten. Just a beautiful, emotional, rewarding experience.

Elden Ring (2022) - Rated 18 Mar 2026
A disappointment and an absolute slog through copy-paste dungeons, huge and empty maps, repeated bosses and enemies, and a story that pretends to be intriguing by being pointlessly vague. The Dark Souls formula doesn't work in an open world, it turns combat into a tedious chore and exploration into repetitious and unrewarding slop. FromSoft's design hasn't evolved in a decade and this game is the epitome of stagnation.
