There's some amusing gimmicks used throughout the game's dungeons and it boasts pretty cool voice work. On the other hand, abilities aren't horribly interesting and while there is a degree of enemy variety most of the time your approach to them doesn't change much. Itemization is mostly bland because drops are pre-defined and the best gear is determined by specific areas of progress, which is LAME. There's also a lot of worthless stats, but stat building is boring anyway so whatever.

Couch co-op is the recommended play style here. The flaw with that being that this is only a two player game. It's an okay, but slightly shallow, game. It doesn't really stand out as better or worse than similar games of the time, and it was eclipsed entirely by X-Men Legends.

If you come to it expecting it to particularly resemble the classic CRPGs of its day in any way whatsoever (as the title might suggest), you will be sorely disappointed. If you come to it expecting one of the most popular standouts in the glut of largely forgotten console action-RPGs on the shelves at the time, you'll find a fairly fun little romp that holds up better than most.

It's just a cut-rate version of BioWare's classic RPG. Unfortunately, it happens to bear the same name.

Has a certain trashy novelty value (they definitely don't make games like this anymore), but ultimately it's an extremely repetitive and shallow hack and slash experience. And a lot of the areas are just featureless corridors with 500 monsters stuffed inside. Apparently console action game standards of this era were really, really low.
