It's way too long for what it is. I appreciate giving people their money's worth, but the AAA trend to drag things out for as long as possible hurts the experience and especially hurts the story. It makes absolutely no sense to have a mandatory mission 40 hours in where you have to go fetch earbuds for a peripheral character. the last badass line is your character telling the antagonist he's worse than the zombies because they don't kill unarmed women... you sure about that? They definitely do.

sony bend tries to be "naughty rockstar dog" with a daryl dixon simulator nobody wants anymore, because TWD has become about as interesting as this tonally messed up, plothole ridden, badly directed mashup of not even subtle callbacks to superior material. and EVERYONE rides bikes? the noisiest and most vulnerable form of transportation?...sociopath that i am, the only thing worthwile was mowing down hordes. "days gone" may just refer to the time you spent playing this and will never get back.

I am torn on this game. I like the gameplay and its really fun if I look at it from that standpoint. The driving on the bike is fun and killing zombies using tactics is something different than just plow your way through them. I think they could definitely do a sequel and I'd pick it up. The story just does not hit. I am not a fan of Deacon at all either and it really put me off. The story is so obvious what is going to happen and just didnt land. Plat difficulty - 4/10

Days Gone has flaws, for sure, but it is a fun, underrated open-world zombie apocalypse game with a lot of interesting features. It does get harder as you press forward, and is quite challenging.

It manages to do a lot right. There's nothing here that's incredible, but everything is good. It's a shame there won't be a second one.

Days Gone is the most pervasively flawed game I have played through and enjoyed despite all its missteps. Almost everything about the experience is mediocre: poor writing, subpar voice-acting, bland 3ps combat. The game's biggest flaw is its overemphasis on boring cover shooting in lieu of focusing fully on the game's best mechanic: hordes, which should have been the game's main combat mechanic. Yet it isn't introduced until the final third of the game. Game definitely has its charm, though!

There’s a lot of potential floating around in here - I’m interested to see what Bend make next - but also a lot of boring crap and godawful writing. The last third is by far the best, with you being able to deal with hordes (easily the highlight) and the story actually getting somewhat interesting, but it’s a REAL long game and so much of it beforehand is a huge slog

It's not perfect but I got the platinum trophy. So I kinda really liked this game.

You won't do anything fun till maybe 15 hours in, it's a slow boring slog. When the game decides to be a fun game it's NOT BAD.

It does a lot right, but there are a few complaints I would make. Obviously, performance could have been optimized further. I also think the story could have been condensed a bit more, although I did like the sandbox aspect of the world. I think hordes in general are usually too difficult, and therefore the story missions with them become a major frustration. Story has some good points, although it takes too long to get going. I enjoyed the game, but I don't see myself replaying it.
