Donkey Kong Country Returns

While it doesn't boast the morose atmosphere of older games, it presents itself with its own unique and creative style. The rocket controls are bit rocky, but platforming feels great and the challenge is well designed without ever feeling cheap. It definitely lives up to the legacy of the older games, and arguably even exceeds them in terms of pure gameplay.

It doesn't feel like as rich of a world or as full of secrets and mood and mystery as Donkey Kong Country 2, but it is a lovely-looking and awesomely challenging sidescroller totally worth playing for anyone who enjoyed the classic trilogy.

Ugh, I want to rate this so much higher but the motion controls! THE MOTION CONTROLS! Proof that Nintendo had two good ideas for the Wii and then nothing, but the console still existed -- the gimmick needed to be used. This is such a good platformer, but those controls plain halt the game in its tracks whenever they're required. The 3DS port is the correct way to play this.

This game with Motion controls is pure garbage. Some of the levels require very little of it. The bosses are ok in this game. Just play the other Donkey Kong Games on Snes or any of them that don't require motion controls
