Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition

D&D 5th Edition is a subversive fantasy of labor. The character sheet mimics a tax form, yet the game rejects "Bullshit Jobs" for the Adventuring Party—a worker-owned cooperative where action is direct. Unlike the neoliberal legalism of prior editions, 5e acts as a negotiated bureaucracy. It proves humans aren't utility-maximizing sociopaths but cooperative creators. We play to inhabit a world where choices matter, maintaining a creative commons against the enclosure of corporate ownership. - Full Review

My second or third favorite edition depending on my mood. There were a few too many steps back as far as balance and presentation were concerned. Fighters became less interesting, Rangers are useless, what is the point of the DM's guide, why do Wizards have access to 95% of the spells, and why present your game as gridless but have no rules that present any actual alternative to grids? Why do I like it at all? Advantage/disadvantage? Nah, it's cultural. This game broke D&D back into pop culture.

I've never played any other tabeltop RPG, and only watched a couple of others as a spectator, but I'll be damned if this isn't a hell of a lot of fun.

Limited only by your imagination

I genuinely love this edition, it feels like it has the room to grow to be as robust as Pathfinder but without being as needlessly complex. It's simple enough for new players to pick up and play and has enough going from it out of the gate(and is getting more content added all the time) to keep older players engaged. My party spent eternity debating which edition to play every time we started campaigns for years, and now we almost always just decide to play 5e because everyone seems to like it.
