In an alternative timeline in 1886, snowstorms and frost led to failing crops and the death of millions. The player is the leader of a group of people who fled the cold and the hunger to find a heat generator. The player's task is to manage them so they would fire up the generator and build a city, which should cover their basic needs. (Wikipedia)

Grim survival world builder. I liked the look and feel a ton, its a bit rough on the difficulty scale at times, with the cold element added in. Still worth a play if you get a decent sale.

One of the best of this genre.

very addicting. Disappointed with the ending. It just abruptly ends and no continuation of the main story. But the dread and hopelessness is exceptional. Definitely makes you feel as half or more of your population just continues to die off + epic music. Excellent UI. But execution on the law of books feels unfinished. Overall very polished game.

Had a lot of fun beating the main scenario on Extreme. The moment-to-moment gameplay was compelling enough to keep me glued to the screen for unhealthy amounts of time, and it got me back into strategy/city builder games after a long absence.

Forget the 1886 thing and pretend this directly follows the events of Snowpiercer

Great game - base building, survival, a bit like They Are Billions with sinister overtones. I particularly liked how the scenarios played differently. The interface could use some improvements, it can be quite hard to find buildings when they are covered in snow.

It's not a little higher because I would have preferred just a city-building game without the survival elements. I'm not a fan of survival elements in general but occasionally a game does it well. So outside of personal preference I can say I did enjoy it: I love the frost steampunk aesthetic, the game has a fair bit of depth between research, creating laws, building, exploring, surviving.
