Kept my attention long enough to get at least a decent distance but playing this game is a fundamentally frustrating experience and the game knows it. I will give Bennett Foddy some credit for the amusing chatter he provides during the opening portion however it doesn't make up for the inevitable pain that follows. You need to be very good or a masochist to complete this game.

first seeing this in its worst form - youtube reaction videos - and then seeing it in its best - speedrunning - was quite a revelation. clever.

There is a bizarre zen to be found in this frustrating game. The physics are just janky enough that it still feels fair to play. When you finally get to mastering the gameplay the reward is unlike any other.

Perfect for what it is...which is a single level used to show off wonky controls and a physics engine. It's fun and infuriating. I've listened to an interview or two with Bennett Foddy who is legitimately interesting to listening to. . Highly recommended.

Cleverly designed game where there is no gating except by your skill as a player. Yes, the controls are purposefully difficult to master, but the level design and progression are also brilliantly realized. Any progression feels earned and is more rewarding than in any other game I've ever played. Finishing it is no mean feat and results in utter elation.

The cynical part of me worries that this game is Twitch/Youtube bait for people to laugh at fake anger. That aside, I've never really enjoyed any of these awkward to control physics games (maybe Octodad but challenge wasn't the point of that game and it felt far more developed than others), but this one actually works for me. It does what it's trying to do well and I actually enjoy working on mastering these goofy controls. Might be a guilty pleasure.
