Odst works a lot better in co-op, mostly due to the useless AI that stands around instead of helping or at least distracting enemies. Every mission has you finding a place you can peek shoot enemies until you run out of ammo. The city was an interesting concept, but in practice felt like lifeless roads. You also have to backtrack a lot through the same boring areas. The audio logs are interesting although a bit eccentric.

ODST's noir-soaked, saxophone-laden, moody character piece would be another great addition to the Bungie-era Halo franchise if it weren't for the copious amount of backtracking. The semi-open world isn't polished enough to justify how many times you walk past the same city square. On the story-side, the characters, other than Nathan Fillion, are underdeveloped, and all the time-jump shenanigans can't fully hide how simple the plot is. A decent followup to Halo 3 but nothing more.

This didn't do it for me. The campaign was too focused on being a co-op experience that playing as a single player was no fun, and the campaign featured so much backtracking through the same area I got bored, quit playing and never finished.

Fails to have a number meter radar and map telling you where you need to go.

Feels a bit like filler but still fun.

Bungie continued their streak of excellent campaigns while introducing new mechanics. I played this so many times over, and the co-op was amazing. I also want to take this opportunity to schmooze over the franchise's music. For the Bungie entries in the franchise, the music is cinematic-worthy, and ODST's is the top of the heap for me. That infusion of jazzy piano and new themes? Holy fuck it's good.
