Hogwarts Legacy

It doesn't innovate or stand out in any way gameplay-wise, but it doesn't need to. Play this game to be immersed in the wizarding world as imagined in the HP series. With all the characters and story of HP himself set aside, you're free to explore the castle and surrounding grounds. Doing so is a joy. I'm not a big fan of collect-a-thon games but I've spent hours just wandering in this one.

This game accomplished what the books somehow couldn't: convince me that there's potential to tell a good story in the potterverse. Not by telling a good story, oh no, it's just lame, by the numbers, inconsequential nonsense. But the world, atmosphere and gameplay worked wonders, i liked the fighting/spell-system, broomflights on a somewhat diverse map, exploring caves etc... Now if someone were to take this solid foundation and fill it with engaging content you'd have a really great game!

It doesn't redefine the open world concept or RPGs in general, and at this point in time, usually that would be a problem for me because I'm harder on open worlds. This game made me a HP fan. Even as someone who had 0 experience beforehand, the setting is super charming. Combat is fun. Everything is fine.

The combat system is fun, but damn is this game shallow. The loot is so pointless, you don't earn anything of substance for challenges, you don't get to make any choices at all for your characters, dialogue doesn't matter one bit, most side quests are about five to ten minutes to complete, and the NPCs are boring and don't do anything. The castle is very well developed. I just wish they would have let Bethesda get some life into the NPCs and made the world itself more interesting.

As someone who loves outfit changes and decorating/customizing, I love this game. Seeing everything in the Hogwart's world is fantastic and the game is beautiful. I feel replayability is limited since you have to go through all the beginning tedium again, but it is a great game.

I appreciate the effort. But the gameplay was bad and the world didn’t make me want to explore it.

Hogwarts Legacy is a richly imagined world with a few annoyances and a forgettable story, but delivers a satisfying experience in the end. Running around the school is fantastic although I felt like a visitor rather than a true student. The combat is fun though super easy (I never used a potion or plant unless I had to) and it's bloated with boring tasks. But, man, I have to admit I loved picking up the controller each time and knowing I was about to fly on my broom in the Potter universe.

A beautiful game that my wife and I go lost in, as we played on our consoles side by side. The customization and personalization was phenomenal.

The plot is great. For Harry Potter fans, lore is stunning. The possibility of discovering secrets of the world theme is so good and so satisfying. Also, casting spells is great. However, the game is full of stupid mini-games that you need to do to get a proper level for a main story quest, and I really don't like this part of the game.

Tell me why the characters are actually fantastically written.
