"I can't be the only one who thought the guy on the cover was Justin Timberlake."
88 75% Fallout 4 (2015) - Rated 11 Jul 2024
"Pretty good stuff. The story is fine (with at least one good twist), but the true value of this game is in all the side quests and companion stories. Liked the Boston location and accompanying lore. The Minecraft-y settlement building was OK but got tiresome after a while (at least until I discovered the cheat for duplicating materials and then farmed XP by building statues). Curie best girl."
82 51% Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (2017) - Rated 11 Jul 2024
"(Placeholder score.) A classic (some would say generic) fantasy story with all the tropes and clichés you could ever think of. The synth music is very repetitive and got so obnoxious I turned it off. The characters are appealing enough, and the story becomes more enjoyable when you get your entire party together. Good voice acting. Wasn't a big fan of the "kiddie" aesthetic, especially the Pokémon-like enemies with goofy designs and punny names. Persona 5 has ruined me on JRPGs, I guess."
88 75% Assassin's Creed Odyssey (2018) - Rated 09 Feb 2024
"More enjoyable than Origins, but that might be because I love Greek history and mythology. The core story of reassembling your family is strong, but, once again, there's just too much going on here to provide a focused, streamlined experience - maybe I'm just getting impatient in my old age. Still good overall."
85 64% Assassin's Creed Origins (2017) - Rated 09 Feb 2024
"Something of a reinvention for the series, which was in dire need of some new ideas. The setting is once again stellar, and the new mechanics are interesting, but the sheer bloat of this game (the enormous map, too many meaningless side quests) makes the replay value far less than the earliest entries in the series."
82 51% Assassin's Creed Syndicate (2015) - Rated 09 Feb 2024
"An improvement over Unity, which isn't saying a whole lot. The Victorian London setting is cool, but the cracks in the formula are getting more obvious."
75 23% Karate Champ (1984) - Rated 19 Nov 2023
"Stop! Judge!"
100 96% God of War: Ragnarök (2022) - Rated 25 Oct 2023
"Somehow even better than the previous game. God of war be praised."
85 64% Wolfenstein 3D (1992) - Rated 17 Oct 2023
"The proto-Doom, and almost as fun."
82 51% Gauntlet (1988) - Rated 02 Oct 2023
"It loses something without the arcade experience, but still a decent port."
