Lufia 2 adds a lot to the formula of the first one, which had a decent story and cool characters but was very basic. This added puzzles, a light Pokemon style monster thing. Prequels don't always excite me but even though you know what's happening at the end of this one, the journey is very emotional and powerful.

Better than its previous rendition, it does much more for a story narrative and long-term world effects. Is it memorable? More so than the first one, but... not much. There are better RPGs out there, even in the SNES JRPG era.

Absolutely one of the stronger non-Squaresoft RPGs on the SNES. Simple but playable battle system. Good music. Makes a really game attempt at being a legitimate epic spanning years in-universe, encompassing marriages, births, deaths, etc. The block/switch-based puzzle mechanics are pretty fun too.
