Mega Man 9

Just when I thought I was out, Dr Wily pulls me back in.

I don't feel like we really needed to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Maybe, in terms of fan recollection, Mega Man 2 was the best, but restricting the tools we can use to just those found in that game made this feel needlessly orthodox. The boss fights were great, but the graphic design was meh when you compare it to the last five games in the series.

A phenomenal revival for the series, picking up where Mega Man 2 left off as it chooses to leave the charge shot and slide behind. The chiptunes are as catchy as ever, the level design terrific and the bosses both fun to battle and their powers fun to wield. I got really really into this game when it came out back in 2008 and played through it probably a few dozen times to where I could do it without losing a life, and I enjoyed every second of it.
