Once upon a time, before the net was everywhere, I came across a book about Ogre Battle that told me some secrets that I never knew existed in it. This was after spending copious amounts of hours with the game over many years. I still don't know everything about this game. This is an incredibly deep strategy RPG. The battle system doesn't sound appealing because you basically just watch it play out while issuing some small commands, but it's endearing. Love making my units and plotting my attack

Great strategy elements, but really, you had to learn how to find the right stuff and get the best path, so it's an exercise in memorization and multiple plays.

I kind of feel about this game how I suppose people used to action games who don't like Final Fantasy and other menu-based games feel about them - I just always feel frustratingly out of control and removed from what's unfolding. That said, I do enjoy Ogre Battle 64 and it will get a better review from me once it goes up on here.
