A landmark JRPG. Absolutely fantastic.

One of the only games where I reached the 100 hour mark, beat the game, and felt like it wasn't long enough, I just want to spend more time in this world and with these characters, and while its characters and story are arguably a step back from 3 and 4 its gameplay and UI are head and shoulders above the rest of the series. Easily the best Persona yet, I hope we get an extended edition because I'm dying to dive back in.

genuinely remarkable audiovisual aesthetic and exceptional gameplay, where extra-curricular activities interact wonderfully with the battle system. but it's a persona game, so the writing and characterization are, well, lightweight, perhaps even juvenile. the women in particular seem cynically designed to generate "best girl" discussions on internet forums. yet i cannot deny that i enjoyed this immensely. beautiful kitsch.

the ending loses some steam, but this is legitimately great. its greatest problem is that it wasn't an episodic release — I found myself forced to complete it as quickly as possible so I wouldn't be spoiled, but doing so gave me less time to cherish the experience. if each dungeon were released weekly, that'd be a great way to solve this problem AND promote longevity. as is, it's still very great, with one of the best soundtracks of the decade. Rivers in the fuckin' Desert, man.

I see where people who disliked it are coming from, it's a much more commercial and simplified version of an already more commercial and simplified version of a much larger series and older series, and the writing is not always the best. But man, this is aesthetically the best Persona by far. There's so much love put in every detail, from character development to level design. As soon as I finished it I immediately new gameplay just to see what I could do differently.

The best design and gameplay the series has ever had, but maybe the least relatable characters. Hope a better translation shows up some day.

Extremely well made and you will definitely get your money’s worth in terms of game hours. Can be kind of overwhelming with the amount of content

This was amazing when it was my first megaten game and its a good game but its mid compared to the rest of megaten and the writing is absolutely ATROCIOUS. Saved by presentation and decent turn based combat that doesn't hold your hand too much

I give it props for having incredibly stylish presentation, but the game itself is a big bleh. The narrative has highs, but it's often juvenile and tone deaf. For example, Ann had experienced sexual abuse in the first chapter yet doesn't seem at all bothered when Yusuke asks her to pose nude, which I guess is done for laughs at Yusuke's expense? That aside, I do like how they've improved on the core formula such as how social links meld with gameplay, but combat is still rudimentary.

Stylistically fresh AF but it's just a little too gradual for my taste.

Just not for me. The first few hours built up an interesting story and I like the Jungian aspects to it a lot. But my question was whether I'd like the social sim parts, as I've never played a Persona... and I don't. I'm always iffy on time management and hard deadlines in games. It's a shame because the plot, the stylish graphics, the complexity, the streamlining of certain JRPG elements for convenience... all of that appeals to me. But I can't get past the sim stuff.

gave up after many hours of clicking through a visual novel pretending to be a game

The ending picks up the steam it'd been sorely lacking throughout much of the second half, but doesn't quite put it at the level of FES or Golden.
