Rock Band 2
Rock Band 2 is a 2008 music video game developed by Harmonix. It is the sequel to Rock Band and is the second title in the series. The game allows up to four players to simulate the performance of popular songs by playing with controllers modeled after musical instruments. Players can play the lead guitar, bass guitar, and drums parts to songs with "instrument controllers", as well as sing through a USB microphone. (wikipedia.org).

People will look back on the late 00s and reminisce about the mad rush of music games that continued with game after game until absolutely everybody stopped caring.

I think I'm comfortable calling this the best music game ever. Harmonix seems to have a habit of innovating, then perfecting with the second game. The later Rock Bands were pretty much all unnecessary, in my eyes.

My favorite party game ever and easily the best Rock Band game, the World Tour mode is brilliantly designed, surprisingly deep and gives a real sense of progression and place that the later Rock Band and Guitar Hero games were never able to replicate. My only knock against it is that calibrating it is a massive pain in the ass.

Just when it seemed like the rhythm games of the era were dying, Rock Band 2 comes out and is the very best of them.
