Shadows of the Damned is an action video game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Electronic Arts. The game follows the story of Garcia Hotspur, a Mexican demon hunter who goes to the City of the Damned to battle its evils in order to save his true love. The game is the result of collaboration between Goichi Suda and Shinji Mikami, and combined the styles of the two designers, namely the "punk rock" edge of the former and the "psychological action thriller" of the latter.

I vibe with this game's personality and character a lot, but I'd be dishonest if I said the game was good. Gameplay wise it's basically barebones RE4 with much of its depth stripped away in favor of lame mechanics that trivialize encounters. There's a lot of clear conflicts of interest in regards to the game's direction that really muddle the whole experience in a way that can be grating. On the other hand, I just like the game's visual style and personality enough that I don't wholly hate it.
