Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse
The story of Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse focuses on a Hunter cadet protagonist who gets killed by one of the demons treating post-apocalyptic Tokyo as their personal playground. However, the mysterious god Dagda resurrects the protagonist in exchange for his fealty, and sets him on a perilous path that treads a fine line between peace and anarchy. Is Dagda simply an opportunistic lesser god or is he part of something much bigger?

With power of friendship comes terrible writing. It's so bad and cringey. Final dungeon is a piece of shit too.

like the first one but with a dash of persona. which does not improve things. here the 'law' and 'chaos' routes are bad endings, afterthoughts - the main drive is of the protagonists is to be neutral, to find balance between the bickering angels and demons. there are two so-called neutral routes. one has you destroying the world and every living creature within it to become supreme ruler of the next. seriously. and the other? you and your friends join forces to save the blah from yadayadayada...

This made some solid gameplay improvements over SMT4 but I ended up finding it a little harder to care and keep going than in 4. Combat is close to the best it has ever been in the SMT series, but I feel like a little of the heart in previous games is missing.
