The first and also the best strategic gameplay. Precise, defined choices you have to make. A game for the intelligent who understand world history. Only compromised sequels.

The game's deep strategy elements remain intact, but the slow pace and lack of precision dampen the experience. Whilst it was probably some fun back in its time, it is simply too dated by today's standards to enjoy for any length of time. Overall, a nostalgic curiosity but hardly engaging today.

Used to play this during free periods in high school. My blood lust for world domination knew no end. Don't fuck with Gandhi...he'll cut ya!

Back in the day I didn't like it much, thought it was nothing special. Tried to replay it much later and thought it had aged badly.

When you're tank gets defeated by a spearman you'll realize that maybe the game had some kinks to work out, but it' still somehow aged better than either 2 or 3 has.

YOU WANT THE COMPUTER VERSION. This site kind of lumps a game into the same category when it's on multiple platforms even when they're not the same, so I had to make that clear. Great game for strategy and world conquest while educating you along the way. Awesome work Sid Meier.

Completely groundbreaking and absorbing game that sucked up most of my childhood "has been called one of the most important strategy games of all time". All other remakes were pale imitations.
