Could be perfect, still awesome for a Bethesda lover.

What a disappointment — such misguided garbage that doubles down on all the bad parts of prior Bethesda game while stripping away almost everything that worked. This game frustrated me so much that I stopped playing it and went back to Fallout: New Vegas for the 100th time instead (because the best "Bethesda" game was actually made by Obsidian), and I've been having a much better time since

Literally unplayable on my "will play great on this" PC. Will (hopefully!) change if it ever decides to work.

Space is so boring. Set a nuke off and give it 50s flavour and I'll play it

There is some good stuff there, but not enough. At least not at this time. If you ignore all the repeatable quests like planet scanning, killing pirates etc. it might feel better. Base building is pretty much pointless, unless if you really like that aspect. I was annoyed every time something was blocking my structure for no reason and gave up. Ship customization is better, but could be so much more. And at this time the game performance is very poor sometimes, not to mention all the bugs.

The solid Bethesda RPG baseline is there, so there's enjoyment to be had, but in creating a significantly larger sandbox, the enjoyable activities have been spread too thin, and things can feel tedious at times. The main storyline was hit-and-miss for me, though some concepts and decisions were definitely interesting. The New Game+ concept seemed intriguing, but, for now at least, I couldn't face (re)playing more.

There are things I really like. It still has the Bethesda charm when it comes to roleplaying your character. Some cool quests and whatnot. But the planets are boring as shit, which was my fear. I'd rather just have a more conventional Bethesda RPG where you have one world and it's fun to explore it. Space travel is useless and boring. Speaking of, there's so much fast travelling that it seriously kills the pacing.

All BGS games start slow; so many systems to master, it's kinda overwhelming. Once things get rolling, it's incredible. The longer you play the better it gets. The UC Vanguard questline is worth it by itself and that's only a fraction of the total game. Combat is decent except for melee. Go to Neon if you want to play stealth because it's useless everywhere else. Character animation and voice acting are very good for main companions. Giant world packed with interactivity under every rock.
